The Misericordia University women's basketball team scored the game's final 10 points to pull away from Penn State Harrisburg for a 64-49 win, Sunday afternoon in the Anderson Center.
Rachel Carmody led the Cougars with 16 points and
Liz Waleski added 15 as the Cougars improved to 3-2.
Justine Seely had six points, 10 rebounds, three blocks and four assists.
Leading 54-49, the Cougars scored the game's last 10 points on a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line over the final 1:45.
Waleski had given MU a 54-46 on a step-back three-pointer from the right wing midway through the fourth quarter.
After leading 36-39 at halftime, Seely helped the Cougars stretch the lead to 10 points midway through the third quarter.
Seely made a short jumper off an offensive rebound and followed that with a steal and an outlet pass to Carmody for a 44-34 lead with 6:21 left in the period.
Waleski drained a three-pointer from the left corner off a nice feed from Seely to keep the lead at 10, 49-39, with 2:18 to go in the third quarter.
The Lions rallied to take a 21-16 lead early in the second quarter, but the Cougars responded with a 9-2 run.
Leanne Forsyth sank a short jumper and Carmody buried a three-pointer.
After a PSU bucket, Waleski tied it with a pair of free throws and Japriya Caroll's driving layup gave MU a 25-23 lead with 4:15 to go before halftime.
Carmody and
Alexa Plitt both hit three-pointers to give the Cougars a 33-27 lead and Carmody added two free throws in the final minute.
MU will open MAC Freedom play at FDU-Florham, Wednesday.
