The Misericordia University women's basketball team ended first semester play with another tough loss, 57-51, Sunday afternoon at Marywood.

The Cougars lost their fourth consecutive game, including the third straight in which they led in the fourth quarter.

Justine Seely led the Cougars with 16 points and nine rebounds and
Liz Waleski added 11 points while
Alexa Plitt had seen points and seven rebounds.

Tied 49-49, Marywood took the lead for good on a three-pointer with 2:33 remaining and the Pacers converted five-of-six free throws in the final minute.

After Marywood scored the game's first basket, Misericordia answered with a 9-0 run as Waleski hit a three-pointer and
Leanne Forsyth,
Nikki Baro and Plitt all added baskets.

The Cougars led 13-12 after the first period and remained in front throughout the second and third periods.

Marywood chipped away and regained the lead, 41-40, two minutes into the fourth quarter.

Trailing 49-43, Waleski sank a jumper and
Japriya Carroll made two free throws to pull within 49-47 with 4:03 to play.

Forsyth's jumper off a steal by Waleski pulled the Cougars even, 49-49, with 3:19 to go, but Marywood answered with the go-ahead three-pointer.
