The number-eight Misericordia women's soccer team dropped a hard-fought game to second-ranked Messiah, 3-0, Saturday at Mangelsdorf Field.
The Cougars conceded three first-half goals and were unable to find the back of the net despite some quality chances in the second half.
Messiah's first goal came off a rebound in front of the net in the eighth minute. The Falcons made it 2-0 in the 25
th minute added a third goal off a free kick at 31:44.
Alyssa Pojero entered in goal in the second half and was immediately tested, coming off her line to make a tremendous save on a Messiah breakaway.
Alex Gallagher tried to find
Alyssa Manno on the attack, but Messiah's Audra Larson snared the cross to snuff out the danger.
MU had another good look when
Jordyn Powell fired a shot from 25 yards out that sailed just over the bar at 72:43.
Gallagher played a ball to
Jeanna Orfanos in the box, but Larson made a diving save in the 87
th minute to preserve her shutout.
The Cougars are 6-1 and will travel to Elizabethtown, Wednesday at 5:00
