The Misericordia University softball team ended its spring break trip with a pair of wins, Friday.

The Cougars beat #11 Alfred, 1-0, and defeated Wesley, 2-1.

Bailee Schies tossed a two-hitter in the opener and
Diana Kestenbaum had two hits for MU.

Against Wesley,
Melissa Parker hit a two-run homer and
Jordan Hoffman scattered eight hits to earn the win.

In the opener, the Cougars scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the first inning.Â
Melanie Quintanilla led off with a walk and moved to second when
Lori Brennan drew a one-out walk.
Â
Both runners advanced on a ground out and Quintanilla came home on a wild pitch.
Â
Alfred had two hits and a walk and didn't advance a runner past first base.

Quintanilla and
Whitney Ellenberg both had hits for MU.

Against Alfred, the Cougars again did all their damage in the first inning.Â
Abby Marzzacco reached on an infield single and Parker drilled a two-out, two-run homer to left field.

Kestenbaum and
Caitlin Kennedy both had two hits for MU.

Wesley threatened with two hits in the bottom of the first, but Hoffman got a strikeout to end the frame.

The Wolverines scored their only run on an error in the bottom of the sixth.

MU finished the trip 4-6 and will open MAC Freedom play when the host DeSales, Saturday, March 19.
