The Misericordia softball team swept Wilkes, 8-5 and 9-6, on senior day at Anderson Field, Saturday.

In game one,
Melissa Parker was 2-4 with a monster three-run homer to right-center and
Abby Marzzacco was 3-4 with a run scored.
Diana Kestenbaum went 2-3 with two RBI and a run scored.

Bailee Schies picked up the win in game one for the Cougars while
Alissa Steier got the win in game two.
Â
In game two,
Cailey Ware was 1-3 with two RBI and a run scored,
Whitney Ellenberg was 2-3 with a double and two runs scored.
Melanie Quintanilla was 3-4 with two runs scored.

Both teams were scoreless through the first three innings until the Cougars put up seven in the fourth.

Ellenberg singled through the left side;
Cailey Ware singled to center and got to second on the throw while Ellenberg went first to third. Kestenbaum singled through the left side to score both of them. Quintanilla reached on an error and got to second and Kestenbaum ended up at third.

Both runners moved up (Kestenbaum scored) on a passed ball and then Quintanilla scored on a passed ball too. Marzzacco singled through the left side,
Lori Brennan walked before Parker sent the first pitch she saw over the fence in right field.

Wilkes responded with five runs of their own in the fifth before the Cougars scored an insurance run in the sixth off an RBI from Ellenberg.

Maddie Stebich came in and got the save in the seventh.

Misericordia started game two off with another scoring binge, scoring six runs on six hits in bottom of the first.

MU added to the lead in the third when Ellenberg doubled to center and then was sent home by a Kestenbaum single up the middle to make it 7-0. Â

The Cougars added two more in the fourth.
Mackenzie Yurko drew a walk, Quintanilla singled through the left side and Marzzacco bunted them over to second and third. Quintanilla got to third and Yurko scored on a wild pitch. Two batters later Parker walked,
Jessica Pluta came in to pinch-run before
Alexa Doggett singled home Quintanilla.

Wilkes scored two runs in the fifth to keep the game going, and then scored four runs across the final two frames.

The Cougar seniors combined to bat .440 with 12 RBI and eight runs scored across the two games.

The wins push MU to 26-12 (11-3) and they locked the two seed in the MAC Freedom. They will face FDU-Florham in the playoffs.
