Misericordia scored five first half goals as they defeated Elizabethtown, 5-0, Wednesday evening at Mangelsdorf Field.
Ashley Edgell scored three goals while
Amber Hartranft and
Hannah Larkin each scored once.
Jacqueline Stevens had two assists and
Kylen Smith added one.
The Cougars came out firing, putting eight shots on goal in the first 10 minutes including three shots that smashed off the crossbar.
Edgell opened the scoring in the 16
th minute, she got a pass from Stevens, turned and fired the ball into the left corner of the goal.
Twelve minutes later, Stevens played a ball into the box that bounced around before Edgell put it into the back of the net.
Two minutes later Stevens crossed ball in from the left wing, the ball bounced off a Blue Jay and with her back to goal Hartranft turned and fired the ball past the keeper in one motion to make it 3-0.
In the 41
st minute, Smith fired the ball in from the left corner toward the back post to a crashing Larkin who put it away to make it 4-0.
Two minutes before the half,
Robin Erb sent the ball into the box where Edgell fought off two defenders to get to the loose ball and poked it past the keeper to get her hat trick.
The Cougars outshot the Blue Jays 26-2 and didn't allow any shots in the first half.
