The Misericordia field hockey team lost to Alvernia, 5-0, on a hot Wednesday afternoon at Mangelsdorf field.
Katelyn Campbell made eight saves in goal for the Cougars.
The Cougars best opportunity came early in the first half.
Colby Eldridge gathered a loose ball and sent it towards the right post.
Haley Gruber made a diving effort to try and smash it in, but just missed it.
Alvernia scored their first goal in the 16
th minute and went into the half with a 1-0 lead. They scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half to go up 3-0.
The Crusaders scored with 14 minutes left in the contest and then again with less than a minute remaining to close the scoring at 5-0.
MU returns to the field, Saturday at Montclair State at 1:00.
