Alex Gallagher scored 2:57 into the second overtime to lift the Misericordia University women's soccer team to a 1-0 win at Wilkes in the MAC Freedom championship match, Saturday evening.

Gallagher's game-winner came off a re-start and bounced off the crossbar as the Cougars improved to 14-4-2 and clinch an NCAA Tournament berth.
Both teams managed just 10 shots in a defensive struggle, with Wilkes holding a 6-2 edge in shots on goal.

Gallagher nearly gave the Cougars the lead in the 43
rd minute, but her shot floated just over the bar and the teams went to halftime scoreless.

The Cougars controlled possession for most of the first 15 minutes of the second half, but Wilkes earned a corner at 61:54 that led to a blast that
Alyssa Pojero tipped over the bar.
Following the second corner, Misericordia raced up the field to set up a shot from
Alex Gallagher that went wide left.
Jackie Stevens nearly got MU on the board late in regulation, but her shot caromed off the crossbar in the 88
th minute.
Gallagher nearly won it in the first minute of OT, but her shot was wide right.

Wilkes best chance in OT came five minutes later, but was thwarted by a diving stop by
Alyssa Pojero.
