Rachel Carmody scored a career-high 28 points to lead the Misericordia University women's basketball team to a 69-39 win over Wilkes, Saturday afternoon at the Anderson Center.
Justine Seely closed out her Anderson Center career with a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds and
Japriya Carroll added 10 points.
Missy Oertner had 15 points Catey McFadden had eight rebounds to lead Wilkes.
The Cougars won their seventh straight game to improve to 17-6 overall and 10-2 in the MAC Freedom.
Misericordia took control of the game early with 7-0 runs to open and close the first quarter.Â
Leanne Forsyth opened the game with a steal and a coast-to-coast layup. Carroll followed with a wide-open three pointer from the left wing and Seely found Carmody with a baseline pass for a 7-0 lead.
After Wilkes pulled within 11-8 on a three-pointer by Oertner and a free throw by Alyssa Alfano with 1:13 left in the first quarter, the Cougars scored seven straight to end the period.
Forsyth and Seely both made two free throws before Carmody converted a three-point play to give the Cougars an 18-8 lead after 10 minutes.
Alfano opened the second period with two free throws and
Jaclyn Hajec answered with two free throws for MU and the Cougars maintained a double digit lead the rest of the way.
Carmody had a spinning layup and put back her own miss to give MU a 28-14 lead midway through the second quarter.
Carroll got a friendly roll on a foul line jumper and drilled a three-pointer from the right wing to stretch MU's lead to 37-19 at halftime.
Carroll opened the second half with a steal and coast-to-coast layup and Hajec buried a three-pointer from the right win for a 44-21 lead.
Seely ended her day with a long three-pointer from the top of key and a 62-30 lead early in the fourth quarter.
Misericordia will visit DeSales, Tuesday in a battle for second place in the MAC Freedom while Wilkes will host King's.
