The Misericordia University women's soccer team recorded an impressive 2-0 win over Penn State Berks, Sunday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
Ashley Edgell and Jackie Stevens both scored goals as MU improved to 2-0. Hannah Larkin and Lauren Anderson both had assists.
Alyssa Pojero made three saves to record the shutout in goal.
After Stevens' direct kick sailed just over the bar for the game's first scoring chance, Edgell slotted a pass from Larkin across the box inside the right post for a 1-0 lead just over five minutes into the game.
Stevens nearly made it 2-0 just two minutes later, but the Lions keeper made a diving stop near the right post.
PSU-Berks had perhaps its best opportunity of the game, but Pojero came off her line to deflect a shot just inside the box in the 11th minute.
The Cougars added an insurance goal early in the second half when Anderson played a ball from the right flank and Stevens headed into an empty net from 15 yards out.
Misericordia will travel to Susquehanna, Wednesday.
