Ryan Miller and Caleb Bauder combined for 25 kills to lead the Misericordia University men's volleyball team to a 3-1 (25-21, 18-25, 25-21, 25-21) win over Cairn, Wednesday night at the Anderson Center.

Bailey Brugler had 30 assists, seven kills, five aces and two blocks for MU.

Bauder added nine digs and two aces and Michael Trygar had four blocks and four kills while Michael Mohutsky had 12 digs.

The Cougars trailed throughout much of the first set before taking their first lead, 13-12, on a Cairn attack error.

A kill by Miller and Brugler's ace gave the Cougars a 15-12 lead.

Miller's smash down the right side and two straight Cairn errors made it 18-13.

Bauder's kill inside the back line put the Cougars up 22-17.

After Cairn closed within 23-21, Brugler closed out the set with a kill in the middle of the floor and an ace.

Cairn jumped out to an early lead in the second set and was never really threatened in a 25-18 win.

Misericordia grabbed an early 5-1 lead in the third set, but the Highlanders eventually tied it, 11-11.

Miller and Bauder combined for four straight points to give MU a 15-11 lead.

The teams traded points and were tied 20-20 before taking control with four straight points.

After a Cairn kill, Bauder answered with a kill to close out the set, 25-21.

Misericordia scored three straight points to break a 2-2 tie in the fifth set and never trailed again.

Cairn used a 5-1 run get within 20-18, but the Cougars answered with three straight points.

Misericordia improved to 4-3 and will open MAC play at Messiah, Saturday.
