Rachel Carmody had her fifth double-double of the season to lead the Misericordia University women's basketball team to a convincing 82-35 win over Marywood, Wednesday night at the Anderson Center.
Carmody had 13 points and 14 rebounds as the Cougars extended their best start in school history to 7-0.
Japriya Carroll added 14 points and
Leanne Forsyth had 13 and
Jordan Barth had six points, nine rebounds and five steals.
Liz Waleski added nine points on three three-pointers for the Cougars.
Trailing 4-3 early in the first quarter, Carroll drained a three-pointer from the left wing to ignite an 11-0 run to put the Cougars in front for good, 14-4.
Forsyth sank a runner with a minute to go in the opening quarter and the Cougars finished the opening stanza with a 16-6 lead.
Kalynn Sefcik found
Paige Wampole with a perfect lob pass early in the period and Carroll nailed back-to-back three-pointers midway through the quarter as the Cougars built a 25-10 lead.
Barth had a putback bucket and went coast-to-coast off a steal as Misericordia closed the period on a 13-0 run to take a 38-12 halftime lead.
Carmody's used a spin move to finish an inbounds feed from Sefcik and converted a three-point play to give the Cougars a 49-18 lead late in the third quarter.
Every player in the Misericordia line-up scored as the Cougars added to their lead in the fourth quarter.
Misericordia will open MAC Freedom play at Wilkes, Wednesday, while Marywood, 2-4, will travel to Wesleyan, Saturday.
