The Misericordia University men's volleyball team lost a tough 3-1 (29-31, 27-25, 23-25, 15-25) decision to Arcadia, Thursday night at the Anderson Center.
Ryan Miller led the Cougars with 19 kills and
Caleb Bauder added 11.
Matt Lavin had five blocks and
Michael Trygar had three.Â
Bailey Brugler had 33 assists while
John Natiello had five aces and
Michael Mohutsky had 15 digs.
The Cougars took a quick 4-1 lead in the opener on an ace inside the right corner by Lavin and a kill by Miller.
Three straight aces by Nattielo fueled a 5-0 run to give MU their biggest lead of the night, 11-4.
Caleb Bauder hit through two blockers for a 22-17 MU lead, but the Knights rallied to pull even, 24-24.
Miller's kill inside the back line put Misericordia up, 26-25, but the Cougars couldn't close it out.
Down 29-28, Miller kept the Cougars alive with a smash from the left side, but the Knights scored the next two points to close out a 31-29 win.
Misericordia grabbed another early lead in the second set on a kill and an ace by Bauder sandwiched around an Arcadia error.
Trailing 16-11, the Cougars used a 6-1 spurt, including two kills from Bauder, to pull even, 17-17.
Another ace by Natiello and a kill by Miller put the Cougars in front, 24-21, but Arcadia answered with four straight points.
Following an Arcadia service error, a big dig by Mohutsky led to a kill by Miller and the Cougars clinched a 27-25 win on an Arcadia attack error.
In the third set, kills by Trygar and Bauder helped MU to an 8-5 lead, but the Knights used a 5-0 to take an 11-9 lead.
Down 21-18, the Cougars took advantage of three Arcadia errors to tie the score, 22-22, but the Knights scored three of the final four points in a 25-23 win.
After a smash by Miller from the left side got the Cougars within 12-11, scored five straight points to take a 17-11 lead in the fourth set.
Following a service error, the Knights rattled off six more points for a 23-12 lead.
Misericordia answered with three straight points, but the match ended on consecutive errors by the Cougars.
