The Misericordia University softball team dropped a doubleheader at Arcadia, Thursday, 5-3, 10-3.
Amanda Butera had two hits in the opener, including a homer. She scored twice and drove in a pair of runs while
Maddie Holub added two hits.
Victoria Schmidt scattered 10 hits over six innings while absorbing her first loss of the season.
In the nightcap,
Jessie McDonough drove in all three of MU's runs while
Brianna Holder had two hits.
After falling behind 3-0 in the opener, MU scored single runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings to tie score. But, the Knights scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to go back in front.
Butera homered with one out in the top of the third inning and reached on a fielder's choice in the fifth. She stole second, moved to third on Holub's single to right and score on Holder's single through the left side.
McDonough singled to lead off the sixth and
Lori Brennan walked and Butera drove in the tying run with a two-out single up the middle.
Arcadia answered with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to clinch the win.
The Knights took a 2-0 lead in their first at bat in game two and led 3-0 after two innings.
Ciara DeLong led off the third inning with a double and moved up on a wild pitch before Holub walked. With two outs,
Kiersten Pflueger reached on a passed ball on strike three to load the bases and McDonough followed with a two-run single down the left field line.
