The Misericordia University football team improved to 4-0 in the MAC with a 40-14 win at FDU-Florham, Saturday.
Michael Gawlik ran for 238 yards and a touchdown and
Isaiah Williams had 119 receiving yards and a score.
Eric Jeffries and
Brady Williams both added two rushing touchdowns.
Nick Yeager led the defense with two interceptions and a forced fumble.
The Cougars built a 40-0 lead before allowing a pair of TD's over the final 9:26.
After forcing two punts on FDU-Florham's first two possessions of the game, the Cougars took over on their own 14-yard line midway through the first quarter.
Aaron Barry's 15-yard catch on third-and-8 gave the Cougars a first down near midfield.
Gawlik rambled 46 yards to set up first-and-goal and Jeffries gave the Cougars a 6-0 lead on third-and-goal with 2:01 left in the opening quarter.
The Devils threatened on the ensuing drive, but were denied when Yeager intercepted a pass in the end zone.
MU turned the ball over on downs on their next drive and FDU-Florham moved to the Cougars' 29-yard line before Yeager forced a fumble and
Damian Diaz recovered.
Brady Williams connected with
Isaiah Williams for a 50-yard TD to put MU ahead 13-0 with 6:21 left in the first half.
Misericordia forced a three-and-out and I. Williams returned the punt 24 yards to the FDU-Florham 36-yard line.
Gawlik picked up 21 yards and then capped off the four-play with a five-yard TD run to make it 20-0 with 3:37 to go in the second period.
Another three-and-out gave the Cougars the ball at their own 23-yard line with 2:06 to play in the first half.
Gawlik gained 17 yards on two carries and then rambled for 19 yards into FDU-Florham.
Brady Williams hit
Isaiah Williams for 28 yards and went the final 12 yards on a keeper for a TD to give the Cougars a 27-0 lead just 18 seconds before halftime.
The Cougars eventually stretched their lead to 40-0 before the Devils scored two TD's in the closing minutes.
