The Misericordia University men's volleyball team clinched a MAC postseason berth with a 3-0 win over Eastern, Wednesday night at the Anderson Center.
Ryan Miller and
Brian Ross led the Cougars with 12 kills while
Billy Murphy had six blocks.
Jordan Spidle had 36 assists as the Cougars improved to 18-12 overall and 7-5 in the MAC.
MU won three hard-fought matches by identical 25-22 scores.
The Cougars took a 22-19 lead in the opening set on a kill by Murphy, but Eastern scored three straight points to pull even, 22-22.
Miller followed with a kill and Murphy and Ross combined on back-to-back blocks to close the set.
Bauder broke a 14-14 tie in the second set with a kill and an Eastern attack error made it 16-14.
Kills by Ross and
Matt Lavin combined with two Eastern errors gave MU a 20-16 lead.
The Eagles rallied to within 24-22 but Bauder responded with a kill to close the set.
MU battled back an 11-5 deficit in the finale.
Miller had three kills and Ross added a kill to get the Cougars even, 14-14.Â
Spidle's kill put the Cougars in front for good, 16-15.
