The Misericordia University football team ended the season with a 31-17 loss at Lebanon Valley.
The Cougars led throughout much of the first half, but were outscored 28-3 over the final 38 minutes.
David Cromwell led the Cougars with 85 rushing yards and
Dwayne Sharpe had a touchdown reception.
Nick Neidlinger added a 39-yard field goal.
The teams traded punts on the first three possessions and the Dutchmen faced a 3
rd-and-10 at their own 40-yard line when
Kobe Martin gave the Cougars a 7-0 lead with a 45-yard interception return with 7:53 left in the first quarter.
After a Lebanon Valley field goal,
Carlos Artson returned the ensuing kick-off 70 yards to the LVC 15-yard line. Mitch Micale connected with
Dwayne Sharpe on the first play from scrimmage for a 15-yard TD and 14-3 with 3:09 left in the first quarter.
The Dutchmen scored twice in the final 8:07 of the second quarter to take a 17-14 lead.
Lebanon Valley took over on downs at the MU 43-yard line and scored on their first play to pull within 14-10 midway through the second quarter.
The Dutchmen put together a 12-play, 85-yard drive late in the quarter to take a 17-14 lead.
The Cougars got the ball early in the third quarter on a
Chris Hayes interception deep in Leb Val territory on the opening drive of the second half.
After turning the ball over on downs, MU forced another turnover when
T.J. Prather picked off a Dutchmen pass at the LCV 34-yard line.
Micale connected with Artson for 10 yards and the Cougars moved the Leb Val 16, before settling for a 39-yard field goal from Neidlinger to pull even 17-17, with 8:00 to go in the third quarter.
The Dutchmen answered with a 60-yard drive to take a 24-17 lead.
Lebanon Valley used a big punt return to set up a short field and took a 31-17 lead with 8:32 to go.
Tavion Rogers led the Cougars with 13 tackles, including three for loss.Â
Andrew Lee and
Xander Shaner had eight tackles each.
Misericordia finished the season at 3-6 and 2-6 in the MAC.
