Three members of the nationally-ranked Misericordia University women's soccer team along with head coach
Mark Stauffer have been recognized by the
ECAC.
Kaylee Sturans,
Emma Sweitzer,
Michaela Fasolino were all named first-team All-ECAC.
In addition, Sturans was named Player of the Year and Sweitzer was the Rookie of the Year while Stauffer earned Coach of the Year honors.
Sturans, a senior forward, was also the MAC Freedom Player of the Year and a first-team All-American. She was second on the team with 39 points, 15 goals and nine assists. Her 39 points is tied for the eighth-best single-season total in school history.
She had three multi-goal games and recorded a point in four of MU's five postseason games, including two NCAA games.
Sweitzer, a forward, was the MAC Freedom Rookie of the Year and a second-team All-American. She set school single-season records with 23 goals and 59 points. She added a team-high 13 assists, which is tied for the third-most in school history.
She scored 11 goals in the final seven games of the season, including four in three NCAA Tournament games.
Fasolino, a senior midfielder, was a second-team All-American. She was third on the team in scoring with 31 points on 13 goals and five assists. She scored twice in MU's 3-0 win over Messiah and had a point in each the Cougars' three NCAA Tournament games.
In his 22
nd season at MU, Stauffer led the Cougars to a 20-2 record and a trip to the NCAA Sweet 16. The Cougars reached the top ranking in the nation before finishing sixth in the final poll.
Stauffer reached the 300-win mark for his career and owns a 303-114-25 record.
