The number-one nationally ranked Misericordia University women's soccer team will host Stevens in the MAC Freedom championship match, Saturday at 1:00 at Mangelsdorf Field.
The Cougars are the top seed and advanced to the finals with a 7-0 win over DeSales while second-seeded Stevens beat Lycoming, 2-0.
Misericordia won the regular season meeting at Stevens, 3-2.
The Cougars and Ducks are meeting in the title match for the third straight season. Misericordia won the 2021 crown to advance to the NCAA Tournament for the 13
th time. The winner of Saturday's game will receive an automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Tournament.
Misericordia leads the MAC Freedom is scoring with 4.67 goals per game and is first in goals against average a 0.33.
Stevens is third in both categories with 2.11 goals per game and a 1.17 GAA.
Individually, MU's
Emma Sweitzer (20g, 15a) and
Michaela Fasolino (17g, 7a) are the top two scorers in the league with 55 and 41 points, respectively.
Sabrina Competiello (8g, 5a) and
Colleen Kinsella (6g, 8a) are both ranked in the top 10.Â
Julia Beck (5g, 4a),
Kaylee Sturans (4g, 5a), Olivia Maniskas (4g, 3a) and
Ally Waite (5g, 1a) all add at least 11 points to the potent MU attack.
In goal, Madi Welliver ranks first in the MAC Freedom with a .295 goals against average and an 86.2 save percentage.
Rachel Rouse (8g, 9a) leads Stevens with 25 points while Amelia Rehrig (8g, 3a) and Jana Mucci (6g, 3a) add 19 and 15 points, respectively.
