Fasolino Named Scholar-Player of the Year, Sweitzer and Farr Also Honored

Three members of the nationally-ranked Misericordia University women's soccer team have been named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America Team, including Michaela Fasolino, who was selected Scholar Player of the Year.

Emma Sweitzer joined Fasolino as first-team Scholar All-Americans while Zoee Farr earned third-team Scholar All-America honors.

In addition, Fasolino and Sweitzer were named first team Scholar All-East Region while Farr was named second-team.

Fasolino, a fifth-year student, maintains a 3.68 grade point average in physical therapy.  She was a two-way player for the Cougars and was honored as a midfielder.  She ranked second on the team with 52 points on 21 goals and 10 assists.

She had nine multi-goal games, including two goals in an NCAA Tournament win over Western New England.

Sweitzer, a junior forward, carries a 3.52 GPA as a physician's assistant major.  She led the team in scoring and set new school records with 64 points and 24 goals.  Her 16 assists are the second-highest single-season total in school history.

She recorded at least one point in 16 games and had a 12-game points-scoring streak.

She had eight multi-goal games, including a pair of hat tricks.

Farr, a graduate student, has a 3.76 GPA as a physical therapy major.  She started all 23 games as a defender and anchored a defense that held opponents to 6.6 shots per game and .48 goals per game.  She scored three goals and had two assists.

Misericordia earned the number one ranking in the nation for the second straight season.  The Cougars finished 21-1-1 and advanced to the Elite 8 round of the NCAA Championships.
