MU Men's Volleyball Splits on Senior Day

The Misericordia men's volleyball team split their tri-match with Wilkes and #14 St. John Fisher, Saturday. The Cougars evened their conference record at 4-4 with a 3-0 win over Wilkes and fell to St. John Fisher, 3-1.

Before the first match, Misericordia held Senior Appreciation Day in honor of Tyler Mallozzi, Paul Schields, Billy Murphy, Conner Westerfield and Dylan Sellitti.

Against Wilkes, Murphy recorded a game-high 10 kills and delivered an ace. Westerfield recorded career-highs with six kills and four aces and added a game-high nine digs.

Mallozzi finished with four kills, three digs and an ace. Sellitti had 26 assists and three aces.

A Sellitti ace and Austin Cervacio block carried the Cougars during a 4-0 run in set one.

Mallozzi came up with a kill midway through the set to score 11-7. Westerfield delivered an ace for the set's 25th point.

In set two, Murphy had back-to-back kills to put MU up 4-1. Sellitti provided back-to-back aces late in the set.

Westerfield again delivered an ace with the set on the line to seal the win in the second set.

MU downed Wilkes 25-16, 25-16, 25-9.

In the second match of the day, Murphy recorded a game-high 18 kills and had two aces while Anthony DePalma finished with 16 kills and two aces.

Westerfield recorded a season-high 16 digs and Sellitti finished with 41 assists.

MU scored the first three points of the set behind two Kyle Ganoe Kills and a Sellitti ace.

Ganoe had two kills down the stretch to pull the Cougars out of a three-point deficit.

A DePalma kill tied the set at 24.

Down 26-25, Murphy provided back-to-back kills to keep the Cougars alive.

Another back-and-forth set the second set put both teams beyond 25 points.

Down 27-26, Zane Martin had a kill and service ace to give MU the advantage. The Cougars would take the set, 30-28.
 
Misericordia fell 29-31, 20-28, 20-25, 12-25.
 
MU will travel to Stevens, Wednesday night.
