Nicole Elliott hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Misericordia University softball team to a 5-4 win and a sweep of King's, Wednesday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.

The Cougars took the opener, 7-1.

Trailing 4-2 heading to the seventh in game two,
Zariah Alvin and
Alexa McHugh singled to open the frame before Elliott's blast ended the game.

Winning pitcher
Miranda Bohn and Bri Holder both had RBI doubles for the Cougars.

Down 3-0, the Cougars got a run back when Holder doubled to left center to score Elliott.
Â
Elliott scored again in the fifth on Bohn's double in the same gap.

King's added an insurance run in the top of the seventh to set the stage for Elliott's heroics.

In the opener, Alvin hit a two-run homer and Katilin Redling had three hits.

Holder had a two-run double and McHugh had two hits to aid her own cause.

Holder gave the Cougars a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first with a two-run double inside the right field line .

Alvin made it 4-0 with a two-run homer to left in the second.
Â
Redling drove in two more with a single up the middle in the fourth as the Cougars took a 6-0 lead.

McHugh struck out seven to earn the win.

Misericordia improved to 24-7 overall and 13-1 in the MAC Freedom to remain in first place.
