Field Hockey Ends Season With Second Straight Win

The Misericordia University field hockey team ended the season with an impressive 2-0 win over FDU-Florham, Saturday evening at Mangelsdorf Field.

Lily Metress and Meghan Radnoff scored three minutes apart midway through the third quarter.

After a defensive battle in the first quarter, the Cougars dominated the second period, but were unable to get on the scoreboard.

Abigail O'Donnell hit the right post and Meghan Radnoff's blast from the top of the circle was just wide left.  Radnoff had a shot blocked that trickled just wide of the right post and O'Donnell dribbled the ball 50 yards and beat the goalie, but her shot was just wide of the left post.

The Cougars took nine shots in the second quarter, but went to halftime in a 0-0 tie.

Off a corner, Radnoff's blast was saved, but Metress tapped in the rebound out of mid-air to give MU a 1-0 lead at 34:54.

MU took advantage of another corner just over three minutes later.  Morgan Walsh received the insert pass at the top off the circle and pushed a pass to Radnoff on the right wing where she ripped a shot into the left side of the cage for a 2-0 lead at 38:05.

The Cougars held a 20-3 edge in shots while allowing just one shot on goal and had a commanding 18-3 advantage in penalty corners.
