The Misericordia University softball team split a doubleheader at Delaware Valley, Saturday.

After dropping the opener, 3-0, the Cougars won the night cap, 15-12.

Mackenzie Fizer and
Nicole Elliott had the only hits for the Cougars in the opener.

Marisa Kelly struck out and allowed just four hits while absorbing the loss.

Elliott and
Brianna Burd had four hits and four RBI and
Gianna Foreman drove in four runs in game two.
Â
Jennifer Milisits picked up the win with five innings of relief work.

Delaware Valley broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to win the opener.

In game two, the Cougars scored five runs in the top of the first in game two.Â
Bridget Doherty was hit by a pitch and scored on Elliott's one-out double down the left field line.Â
Kaitlin Redling single and Foreman followed with a single to make it 2-0. Burd added an RBI-single and
Zariah Alvin was hit by a pitch to force in a run and Doherty reached for the second time in the frame with a walk to make it 5-0.

Delaware Valley answered with four runs in the bottom of the first and took a 7-5 lead in the third.

The Cougars got a run back on Elliott's solo homer in the fourth and went ahead for good with five runs in the fifth. Elliott singled with the bases loaded to give MU an 8-7 lead and Redling followed with an RBI-single up the middle. Burd capped the rally with a two-run double to make it 11-7.

Foreman hit a three-run homer in the seventh and Burd followed with a solo shot as the Cougars tacked on four insurance runs.
