Misericordia University president Daniel J. Myers has announced that STUNT is the latest varsity sports offering to be added to the MU athletics program as well as the hiring of Tara Sinclair '01 as head coach.
Sinclair has served as part-time head coach of the nationally-ranked Misericordia University cheerleading team for 22 seasons.
"Misericordia University is committed to expanding opportunities for students to be challenged academically, socially and athletically," said Myers. "The addition of STUNT allows more students the opportunity to engage in our university's culture, one focused on student success, mutual support and service to others."
Misericordia expects to begin intercollegiate competition with the 2024-25 season.

Chuck Edkins, director of athletics. "Our goal is to provide our student-athletes with a first-rate experience, which includes diverse offerings."
The 20
th sport added since Misericordia joined the NCAA Division III in 1992, STUNT brings MU's total number of intercollegiate offerings to 29.Â
"I am pleased to welcome Tara Sinclair as a full-time member of our athletics coaching staff," said Edkins. "She has done a superb job as our cheerleading coach in both recruiting quality student-athletes and developing them into one of the top Division III programs in the nation."
Sinclair is equally excited for the new challenge at her alma mater. "I am looking forward to continuing my coaching career at Misericordia as a full-time staff member," said Sinclair, whose cheerleading program is one of the most active teams on campus in the community service realm. "STUNT is a fast-growing female sport that is especially popular in the middle of the country. I am excited to see Misericordia be a leader in developing and promoting the sport on the east coast."
STUNT is a new female sport that incorporates skills derived from cheerleading. It is an exciting head-to-head game between two teams who execute skill-based routines in various categories, including partner stunts, jumps & tumbling, pyramids, tosses and team routines. Misericordia is the second university in Pennsylvania to offer STUNT.
