The number-nine Misericordia University women's soccer team lost at #17 Montclair State, Wednesday night in a battle of nationally-ranked teams.
Emma Sweitzer scored early in the second half for MU with an assist from
Sabrina Competiello.
Despite holding a 7-6 edge in shots in the first half, the Cougars found themselves in a 3-0 hole at halftime. The Red Hawks took a 1-0 lead on a PK in the fourth minute and made it 2-0 with  a break away goal in the 17
th minute. Montclair closed out the first half score with a shot from distance that squeezed inside the left post in the 33
rd minute.
Sweitzer slotted a shot inside the left post in the 50
th minute to get MU on the board.
Montclair added an insurance goal in the 89
th minute.
Misericordia, the top-ranked team in Region IV, held a 15-10 advantage in shots, including a 9-6 edge in shots goal.
Each team had six corners.
