Radnoff Lifts MU Field Hockey Over Wilkes

Meghan Radnoff scored the only goal of the game with less than four minutes to play to lift the Misericordia University field hockey team to a 1-0 win over Wilkes, Thursday night at Mangelsdorf Field.

Radnoff took a pass from Morgan Walsh off  a corner and ripped a shot from just inside the right side of the circle with 3:47 to play.

Sarah Bogina made one save to earn the shutout.

The Cougars controlled the action throughout much of the contest and held a 17-6 advantage in shots, including 11-1 in shots on goal.

MU earned 15 corners while allowing just six.

Most of the first quarter was played in the Wilkes end and the Cougars nearly got on the board after earning back-to-back corners at 6:00 mark, but Lily Metress' shot was just wide of the cage.

Tatyanna Lainez had a good chance for the Cougars early in the second period but her shot from the left wing was denied at the left post.

The Cougars threatened again midway through the fourth quarter on two straight corners.  Radnoff had two shots saved and Emily Ervin hit the left post.

With overtime looming, the Cougars earned a corner and Radnoff slammed home the game-winner.

Misericordia is 2-3 while Wilkes is 3-2.
