Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

#5 MU Women's Soccer Falls to #2 Case Western Reserve

The #5 Misericordia University women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season, 2-0, to #2 Case Western Reserve in a battle of nationally-ranked teams Friday night at Mangelsdorf Field.

Lauren Mondor made four saves for the Cougars.

The Spartans got on the board in the 30th minute when Maya Healy gathered a loose ball in the box off her own corner to find the back of the net.

Julia Beck's direct kick from 30 yards was just wide right in the 61st minute.

Mondor made a nice save on a one-timer from 12 yards out at 63:57.

CWRU made it 2-0 off a re-start of their own less than a minute later.

Case Western had a slight edge in shots, 7-6, while the Cougars had a 4-2 advantage in corners.

Madison Brdaric and Carly Stoner led the Cougars with shots on goal.

Misericordia will host Rutgers-Newark, Sunday.

Coach Stauffer's Comments:
"I Thought we played well enough to get a result tonight. But we made two errors on two restarts and good teams will take advantage of those. It was a good early match between two solid sides.  We just need to be better with our details for 90 minutes instead of 88 minutes. I'm excited to watch this group develop into the team we'll become November."
