The sixth-ranked Misericordia University women's soccer team clinched a MAC Freedom postseason berth with a 3-0 win at DeSales, Saturday.
The Cougars turned in another dominating performance while allowing just one shot.
Haleigh Wintersteen had a goal and an assist and
Brenna Field and
Caitlin Somerville added goals.
Sam Bardonner touched a ball to Field at the left corner of the box where she settled and played a shot over the outstretched arms of the DeSales keeper at 6:52.
Madison Brdaric played a ball back to Wintersteen early in the second half and she lofted a shot from 35 yards out into the upper right corner to give MU a 2-0 lead at 59:04.
The Cougars added an insurance goal just four minutes later when Wintersteen stripped a defender along the left sideline and centered a pass to Somerville whose strike from 25 yards went off the fingertips of the keeper and under the crossbar at 63:24.
The Cougars improved to 13-1-2 overall and 5-0 in the MAC Freedom heading into the final week of the regular season.
