The Misericordia University women's wrestling team dropped its inaugural meet, 46-1, to Frostburg State, Friday night in the Anderson Center.
Elizabeth Adebola scored the lone point for the Cougars in a tough 5-2 loss to Samira Stephens at 160 pounds.
Adebola was in on a deep single-leg attempt in the first period, but gave up the opening takedown on a counter one minute into the match. She shrugged out of a front headlock to score a tying takedown midway through the stanza and locked up an arm bar, but was unable to get a turn. Adebola was in deep on another single-leg shot as the first period buzzer sounded.
On the shot clock with less than a minute remaining, Adebola had a deep double-leg shot, but ended giving a passivity point to fall behind, 3-2.
Stephens added a takedown with less than 30 seconds remaining for the final margin.
In a back-and-forth match at 138,
Madelyne Stultz scored the first point in the history of the program with a push out in the first period. After falling behind 2-1, she fought out of a headlock for a reversal and a near fall. Leading 5-2, she gave up a reversal and ultimately lost by fall.
The Cougars will return to action at the East Stroudsburg Open, Sunday.
