The Misericordia University women's basketball team used a big second half to secure a 59-57 win over Juniata, Monday night on Doc Mould Court.
Jordan Carmosino scored a team-high 17 points, including a layup to give MU a 54-53 lead with 1:04 to play.
Jocelyn Grosch added 12 points and 10 rebounds and
Emily Romanowski had 10 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
Ava Cirigliano added seven points and nine rebounds.
Grosch scored on a back-door cut to make it 56-53 with :25 remaining.
After a Juniata bucket, Carmosino made the second of two free throws to give MU a 57-55 lead.
Romanowski made two free throws and grabbed two defensive rebounds in the final 11 seconds to clinch the win.
Back-to-back layups by Romanowski and Caitlin Sweeney put the Cougars ahead 8-5 midway through the first quarter before Juniata scored 15 straight points to take a 21-8 lead.
The Cougars trailed 32-24 at halftime and fell behind 37-26 midway through the third quarter before rallying.
Carmosino and Grosch hit back-to-back jumpers and
Caitlin Landgraf scored in the paint to cap a 6-0 run to get MU within 37-32 with 5:05 to play in the third period.
Grosch had a pair of bookend layups to key an 8-0 run to end the quarter as the Cougars took a 42-40 lead after three periods.
