The Misericordia University men's wrestling era began with a successful trip to Williamsport for the Lycoming Invitational, Sunday.
There were no team scores or individual place-winners, but 14 Cougars had winning records on the day, including eight who were a perfect 3-0.
Misericordia was 41-16 overall for a .719 winning percentage which was tops among the 10-team field.
Jaydin Barreto earned the first win in program history with a pin in 1:31 of Alexander Isopa of Oneonta State in the Freshman/Sophomore division at 125 pounds.
Barreto added a 13-2 major decision over Noah Barke of Cortland and a fall in 4:07 over Tristan Hinchliff of Oneonta.
Michael Williams was 3-0 in the Freshman/Sophomore bracket at 149. He pinned Nathan Bonno of Otterbein in 1:01 and had tech. falls over Orion Newell of Scranton and Wyatt Kent of Lycoming.
Myles Tirpak was 3-0 in the Freshman/Sophomore 149 pound bracket with pins of Trent Turner of PSU-Behrend and Kyle Barber of Cortland and an 8-0 major decision over Luke Burke of Scranton.
Chase Stephen went 3-0 in the Freshman/Sophomore 157 pound division with pins over Jayden Torres of Oneonta and Hunter Morton of Utica and an 8-7 decision of Kevin McCarvill of Scranton.
Jariel Severino was 3-0 with a 13-5 major decision of Cortland's Maxim Kochergin, a 4-1 decision of Lycoming's Wyatt Frawley and a pin of Cortland's Jack Pickersgill in 5:58 in the Freshman/Sophomore 165 pound bracket.
In the Freshman/Sophomore 174 pound division,
Anthony Matas was 3-0 with technical falls of Cole Wheet (Cortland), Eli Cassady (Otterbein) and Owen Windram (Cortland).
Aiden Hidlay was 3-0 in the Freshman/Sophomore bracket at 285 pounds. Hidlay edged Edgar Lagos of Marymount, 2-1, and won by DQ of Seth Northrop of Utica and ended with a 15-5 major decision of Cayden Hooks of Lycoming.
Connor Bevan was 3-0 in the Junior/Senior 184 bracket. He beat Nick Parrella of Lycoming, 9-3, and Ryan Gildersleeve of PSU-Behrend, 8-3, before winning by tech. fall, 19-4, over Caiden Hooks of Otterbein.
Hayden Best was 3-1 in the Freshman/Sophomore bracket at 125 pounds. He had major decisions over Rian Kirker of Utica and Konnor Rosenzweig of Oneonta before receiving a medical forfeit over Cole McFarland of Scranton.
