The Misericordia University men's wrestling team is in ninth place after one day at the Messiah Petrofes Invitational.
Shannon Clark and
Aiden Hidlay both advanced to the semifinals at 285 while
Chase Stephen and
Michael Williams are both alive in the consolation bracket.
Clark recorded two pins and beat Ryan Tran of King's, 8-5, in the quarterfinals. He will face Benjamin Katz of Springfield in the semifinals.
Hidlay opened with a pin and got a takedown in overtime to win 9-6 in the second round. He beat Micah Martinez of Messiah by technical fall, 22-6, in the quarterfinals. He will meet Braeden Fluke of Averett in the semifinals.
Williams won his first two matches before dropping a 10-7 decision to Dalton Monger of Messiah in the quarterfinals. He rebounded to beat Messiah's Jacob Cunningham, 8-2, to guarantee an eighth-place finish. He will face Anthony Orlandini of St.Vincent in consolation quarterfinals.
Stephens won his first two bouts before falling in the quarterfinals. He recorded a technical in his first consolation bout and will meet Lucien Perla of St. Vincent in the consolation quarterfinals.
After dropping their first bouts at 125,
Hayden Best and
Jaydin Barreto both won two matches in consolation round before being eliminated.
Kaden Casey lost his first match and won two consolation bouts before being eliminated.
Anthony Matas won his first round bout at 174 before dropping into the consolation bracket where he picked up two wins before being eliminated.
Robbie Anderson earned two wins in the consolation bracket at 184.
