John Davis has resigned as head football coach at Misericordia University for personal reasons, effective March 4.

"I am grateful for my time at Misericordia and I am especially thankful to my coaching staff and players," said Davis, who spent three seasons at the helm.  "This certainly is not an easy decision for me, but it is in the best interest of my family."

Davis is just the second head coach in the history of the MU football program.  He was named head coach in July, 2021.

"We are thankful to John for his exemplary service to the Misericordia University community and in particular, our football program," said Chuck Edkins, director of athletics.  "We wish him and his family nothing but the best."

The Cougars were 10-19 in his three seasons and were 4-5 in the MAC in 2023.
