The Misericordia University men's volleyball team fell at Stevens, 3-0, in the MAC championship match, Saturday night.

The Ducks won, 25-13, 25-17, 25-17 to clinch the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Jared Piontkowski led the Cougars with 12 kills and
Jackson Fehnel added seven.

Gannon DeFrain had 26 assists and two blocks and
Zane Martin had two blocks.

Stevens jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the opener and extended their lead to 17-5.

Kills from Clendening and Piontkowski and an ace from
Matt Albrecht got MU within 18-9.

Two more kills by Piontkowski and one from
Anthony DePalma cut the margin to 20-12, but the Ducks with a 5-1 run.

Stevens grabbed a 5-0 lead to open the second set and built an 18-8 lead before MU rallied.Â

Fehnel had a kill followed by an ace and a kill from Piontkowski to get within 18-11.

A block by DeFrain and Martin and a kill by DePalma made it 20-14, but that's as close as the Cougars got.

Martin had a kill and an ace in the finale to cut the Ducks' lead to 17-15, but the Ducks closed the match on an 8-2 run.

The Cougars finished 23-11 overall while setting a new school record for wins in a season.
