The Misericordia University men's wrestling team suffered its first dual meet loss of the season, 28-19, Friday night at Delaware Valley.

Michael Williams, Jariel Severino, Anthony Matas and Simeon Hunte were all winners for the Cougars.

Williams won, 9-1, at 149 and Severino recorded a pin at 165.  Matas won by tech. fall at 174 and Hunte won by major decision at 197.

After a scoreless first period, Williams used a duck under for a takedown and a 3-1 lead and he maintained control for the final 1:30 of the period.

He escaped to third period and spun behind for a takedown and a 7-1 lead with 1:00 to go.

He picked up a late stalling point and added a riding time point for the final margin.

Severino took a 3-0 lead with a duck under takedown with 1:09 to go in the first and made it 6-1 with an ankle pick takedown near the end of the period.

He used a deep half-nelson to notch the pin at 3:53.

Matas took the lead with a quick duck under and slipped out of a headlock attempt to take a 6-1 lead midway through the first period.

He came out the back door in a late scramble to take a 9-2 lead after one period.

Matas used a tilt to pick up eight near fall points early in the second period to close the 17-2 tech. fall at 3:54.

At 197, Hunte scored on a low single leg a minute into the bout and spun behind for another takedown and a 6-1 lead with :45 left.

He earned a reversal late in the second period to extend the lead to 8-2 and countered a shot for another takedown late in the third to clinch the 11-3 win.
