The nationally-ranked Misericordia University men's volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Fenway Classic, Saturday.

The #20 Cougars lost to #10 Wentworth, 3-1, but bounced back to sweep Baruch, 3-0.

Wentworth took the opener, 27-25, 25-12, 19-25, 25-18, while the Cougars beat Baruch, 25-15, 28-26, 25-19.

Anthony DePalma had 13 kills in the opener and
Thomas Young had 12 kills while
Jared Piontkowski added 10.

Gannon DeFrain had 39 assists.

DePalma had a team-high 12 kills against Baruch and DeFrain had 32 assists and three aces.

The Cougars took a 25-24 lead in the opening set against Wentworth, but the Leopards scored three straight points to win 27-25.

Wentworth used a 9-0 run to take a 23-10 lead in the second set.

DePalma had a pair of kills in a 5-2 run that gave the Cougars a 20-14 lead in the third set.

Young had two kills to close out the 25-19 win.

Tied 15-15 in the fourth set, the Leopards closed on a 10-3 spurt to clinch the win.

Against Baruch, Piontkowski had a kill and Clendening had an ace as part of a 4-0 run to close a 25-15 run in the opener.

DeFrain had a pair of aces in a 5-1 run to give MU a 21-16 lead in the second set. Baruch rallied to take 26-25 lead, but DePalma's kill capped three straight points to give the Cougars a 28-26 win.

Down 9-7 in the third set, the Cougars took advantage of six Baruch errors to take a 15-10 lead.
