The Misericordia University women's swim team took two of the top three spots in the final event to eke out a 103-102 win over Messiah, Friday evening in the Anderson Center.
Trailing 98-90 with one race remaining, the Cougars captured first and third place in the 400 free relay to secure the win.
Tori Ellex, Brianna Foote, Maddie Cunningham and Cali White (3:43.83) were just .72 off the pool record to win and Liz Duffy, Allison Grosvenor, Angelina Dechert and Tamsin Formon finished third to provide the winning points.
The Cougars opened the meet with a pool-record (1:50.28) from Kaylee DePietro, Lindsey Rice, Foote and Ellex to win in the 200 medley relay. Duffy, Taylar Fisher, Caroline Kovacs and Dechert captured second place by less than half a second.
Ellex won the 50 free (24.46) with a MAC-best time that missed the pool record by .07.
White took the 100 and 200 free (56.27/2:03.24) and Foote (1:02.97), Duffy and Cunningham finished 1-2-3 in the 100 fly.
Coach Taylor's Thoughts:
"We knew going in this was going to be a close meet. Every point mattered and everyone contributed to make this win happen. From the first race, this team stepped up, and I'm proud of how hard we fought for the win."
