Nine Cougars Named to All-MAC Football Team

Nine members of the Misericordia University football team have earned All-MAC status, including first-team selections Billy McCleery and Gavin Morris.

McCleery made the first team at tight end while Morris was selected at linebacker.

Quarterback Jacob Hunter and wide receiver Jacob Hoy both made second-team while wide receiver Anthony Rucci and offensive linemen Jeff Kozerski and Daniel Robledo earned honorable mention.

Nate Malarkey also received honorable mention at safety along with Jassan Whittaker on special teams.

McCleery averaged nearly 10 yards per catch on 13 receptions.  He scored one touchdown while starting all 10 games.

Morris started all 10 games at linebacker and finished second in the MAC with 96 tackles and 9.6 per game.  He had five games with double-digit tackles, including a season-high 17 against Eastern, while becoming Misericordia's all-time leading tackler.

Hunter was second in the league in total offense with 275.0 yards per game.  He was third in the league with 226.6 yards passing per game and eighth with 68.4 yards rushing per game.

He was third in the league with 17 passing touchdowns and sixth with eight rushing TDs.

Hoy was 11th in the MAC with 42.8 receiving yards per game and 12th with 30 catches, despite missing the final two games of the regular season.  He was fourth in the league with six touchdown receptions.

Rucci was eighth in the league with 57.8 receiving yards per game and sixth in receptions with 36.

Kozerski and Robledo anchored an offensive line that helped the Cougars lead the league in average time of possession (32:45) and was third in the league in scoring with 28.0 points per game.

The Cougars led the league in first downs with 21.3 per game and in fourth-down conversions at 69.0%.

MU was fourth in the league in total offense with 365.6 yards per game.

Malarkey finished 11th in the MAC with 6.2 tackles per game.

Whittaker averaged 17.9 yards per kickoff return and was 16th in the league with 38.6 receiving yards per game.

Misericordia finished 7-3 overall and tied for second in the MAC at 7-2 in its first season under head coach Steve Cushing.
