Men's Wrestling Finishes Fifth at Ursinus Tourney

The Misericordia University men's wrestling team placed five wrestlers in the top four to finish fifth at the Racich Rumble at Ursinus, Saturday.

Michael Williams and Robbie Anderson both finished third while Kruz McCusker, Anthony Matas and Aiden Hidlay were fourth.

Williams opened the tournament with two tech falls at 149 pounds and then hit a five-point move in overtime for a 6-1 sudden victory in the quarter-finals.

He lost via fall in the semis and won by forfeit in the consolation finals.

Anderson received a bye in the first round at 184 and then dropped into the consolation bracket after losing by technical fall.

He won six straight bouts, including three by tech fall, to finish third.

McCusker allowed a late takedown in a tough 4-1 loss in his first round match at 141. He won five straight matches in the consolation bracket before falling 8-3 in the third-place bout.

Matas won his first two matches by decision at 174 before losing by fall in the quarter-finals.  He won three straight bouts, including a major decision and tech fall, before forfeiting in the consolation final.

Hidlay won his opening bout at 285 by fall, but was pinned in the second round.  He won four straight matches in the consolation bracket, including one in sudden victory, before forfeiting in the consie final.
