Michael Williams finished second at 149 pounds to lead the Misericordia University men's wrestling team at the PA-New Standard Corporation Invitational, Saturday at York.

Robbie Anderson (184) both finished sixth while the Cougars finished ninth of 16 teams.

Williams gave up a takedown in the opening minute which proved to be the difference in a 4-2 loss to Evan Lindner of Washington & Lee in the finals.

Williams escaped immediately in the first period and got within a point with an escape to open the second period.

Lindner escaped to open the third period to take a 4-2 lead.

Williams advanced to the finals with a 12-5 over Evan Owen of Washington & Lee after grabbing an early lead on two first-period takedowns.

Tirpak advanced to the semifinals at 157 before dropping three straight bouts on Saturday to finish sixth.

Anderson dropped a tough 7-6 decision to Luke Theis of TCNJ in Saturday morning's quarterfinal round.Â

He responded with a major decision and tech. fall to advance to the consolation semifinals where he dropped a 2-0 decision to Nils Updale of Ursinus.

He fell 4-2 in a rematch with Theis in the fifth-place bout.

Aiden Hidlay dropped his quarterfinal match at 285 to Kamdyn Dorchester of Ithaca on tiebreaker criteria, Saturday morning. He was eliminated with a 5-2 loss to Kweku Arthur-Mensah from Washington & Lee in his first consolation bout.
