Gianna Foreman's walk-off single gave the Misericordia University softball team a 10-9 win and a sweep of Marywood on Senior Day, Wednesday at Anderson Field.
After taking the opener, 7-2, the Cougars rallied from an early 7-1 deficit to complete the sweep.
Mackenzie Fizer drove in three runs in the opener and
Emily Susanj had two RBI while
Bridget Doherty had three hits.
Marisa Kelly worked four innings to get the win and
Morgan Kelly struck out six over three innings to earn the save.
The Cougars took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first of game one. Susanj drove in a run with a two-out single off the wall in center and
Sierra Miller scored on a wild pitch.
Lilo Garrett one-hopped a double off the left field fence to open the second and scored on Doherty's single through the right side.
Fizer drove in two with a double to left center to make it 5-0.
Doherty beat out a grounder to first for a single to lead off the fourth and scored on another Fizer double to the gap. Susanj doubled to same spot to give MU a 7-2 lead.
Morgan Kelly allowed just one hit over the final three innings.
Fizer and
Edna Kiefer both had three hits in the nightcap and
Gabby Cruz picked up the win with 4.1 innings of relief.
Down 7-1, the Cougars scored three in the third and five in the fourth to take a 9-7 lead.
Marywood tied it with a two-run homer in the sixth to set the stage for Foreman's game-winner.
