The next honoree in the Misericordia Top 100 Student-Athletes of the Century countdown is #5 Eric Sweeney.

He was a four-year letterman on the swim team after joining the program in just its second season of existence.

He put Misericordia athletics on the national map by capturing the 1999 NCAA title in the 200 butterfly.

Sweeney was an All-American in the 200 fly in 1998 and added AA honors in the 100 fly as a senior.

He led the team in scoring all four years and was a four-time team MVP.

He won multiple individual titles at the ECAC Championships and ended his career with 10 school records.

He still holds school records in the 100 fly (51.06) and 200 fly (1:50.46).

He was inducted into the Misericordia Athletics Hall of Fame as part of the second HOF class in 1999.
