Stephen Gihr and Stephen Rowley both recorded runner-up finishes to lead the Misericordia University men's track & field team on the opening day of the MAC Championships, Thursday at York.

Gihr set a school record to finish second in the hammer (53.71m) and Rowley was second at 10,000m (31:24.37).

Ryan Weber added an eighth-place showing at 10,000m.

Trey Rhinehart, Thomas Bricker, Austin Karwacki and Nathan Horn (8:02.59) finished eighth in the 4x800 relay.

The Cougars are in fifth place in the team standings.
