Gabby Cruz threw a three-hit shutout and the Misericordia University softball team advanced to the MAC Freedom championship game with a 2-0 win over DeSales, Friday afternoon at Lebanon Valley.
 
The Cougars will face top-seeded Lebanon Valley, Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
 
Bridget Doherty had three of MU's six hits and drove in a run.  Rylie Nasso had the other RBI for the Cougars. 
 
Casey Funesti, Kaitlyn Slusser and Cruz added hits for the Cougars.
 
MU scored the only runs of the game in the third inning.
 
After working out of a bases-loaded ja in the top of the third, Cruz helped her own cause with a lead-off double in the bottom of the frame.  Doherty's stand-up triple to left drove in the first run and Nasso's infield grounder plated Doherty to make it 2-0.
 
Cruz didn't allow a DeSales runner past second base over the final four innings.
