The Misericordia University softball team opened the season with a pair off losses at Shenandoah, Saturday.

The Cougars lost, 9-0, in six innings, and 5-2.

Kiersten Tinio had two hits to lead the Cougars in the opener.

Casey Funesti had two hits in the nightcap while
Gianna Foreman had a hit and scored a run.

Emmalee Mowery drove in a run.

In game one, the Cougars trailed 1-0 through five innings until the Hornets plated nine runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Down 1-0 in the game two, MU scored its lone run in the top of the fourth. Foreman reached on an infield single and went to third one out later on Funesti's single up the middle. Mowery reached on a fielder's choice to score Foreman with the tying run.

Shenandoah scored four times in the sixth to regain the lead.
