The Misericordia University volleyball team swept a tri-match with John Jay at New Jersey City University, Saturday.

The Cougars edged Jersey City, 3-2, in the opener. The Cougars dropped the opening set, 27-25, but won the next two, 25-22, 29-27. Jersey City stayed alive with a 25-21 win, but the Cougars won the fifth set, 15-12.

Christopher U'Glay led the Cougars with 19 kills and
Benjamin Clendening added 11 kills, 11 blocks and two aces.

Isaac Griffin had 10 kills and nine blocks and
Joe Kozak had six blocks.

Evan Schmidt had 29 assists and
Andrew George had 27.

U'Glay had a kill and Clendening had back-to-back blocks to help the Cougars pull even, 24-24, in the first set.

After the Knights scored, Griffin answered with a kill to tie the score, 25-25, but NJCU scored the next two points to win, 27-25.

Down 18-15 in the second set, U'Glay and Clendening had kills and two Knights' errors helped MU pull even, 19-19.

Kozak had two straight blocks to put MU in front and Griffin and
Jackson Fehnel had kills to close out a 25-22 win.

The Cougars led 22-21 in the third set, but the Knights rallied to take a 27-26 lead.Â
Logan Romeika and U'Glay sandwiched kills around a NJCU error to win, 29-27.

NJCU rallied from a 15-9 deficit to stay alive with a 25-21 win in the fourth set.

Kozak had a kill and two blocks to help MU to a quick 8-3 lead in the finale.

U'Glay scored three straight points as the Cougars took a 12-8 lead in the finale and added another kill to close out a 15-12 win.

Jacob McCue added seven kills, six blocks and two aces.

Drake had a kill and an ace to bookend a 5-0 run to give MU a 19-11 lead in the opening set and the Cougars held off a late Bloodhounds rally to win 25-22.

The Cougars scored four of the last five points, including a kill by Drake, to win the second set, 25-21.

Drake's kill capped a 5-0 run to give MU a 10-5 lead in the finale and the Cougars never looked back on the way to a 25-15 win.
