The Misericordia University women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw at #22 nationally-ranked Rochester, Saturday.
Kaleigh Horos scored the lone goal for the Cougars in the 41st minute while
Marisa Patrissi recorded a career-high seven saves.
Misericordia had an early opportunity on a corner kick in the eighth minute. Shortly after, Horos recorded the Cougars first shot a minute later, but the attempt was saved near the right post.
After Rochester took a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute, the Cougars ramped up the pressure, especially in the final six minutes of the first half.
Shots by
Alyssa Steenback and
Saydi Renzo in the 40th and 41st minutes struck opposite posts.
Misericordia's pressure paid off at 40:24 when Horos cut past a defender and fired the ball into the lower-right corner to tie the game 1-1.
Steenback had a great opportunity at the start of the second half, but her shot at 46:52 was cleared off the line by a Rochester defender.
The Cougars continued to create opportunities in the 76th and 77th minutes with
Larissa Evans, Horos and
Caelan Gallagher each recording a shot on goal.
Horos had one final shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but her attempt was saved near the right post.
