Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Neumann Field Hockey Edges MU

The Misericordia University field hockey team had its four-game win streak snapped with a tough 1-0 loss at Neumann, Wednesday.

The Knights scored on a penalty corner on their only shot on goal of the evening late in the third quarter.

The game marked the first meeting between the two teams in nearly 20 years when both teams played in the now defunct Pennsylvania Athletic Conference.

Neumann took the only shot of the first period, but it was blocked by the MU defense.

Misericordia dominated the second period with four penalty corners and five shots, including three on goal.

Misericordia controlled the play in the early portion of the third period with two corners and two shots on goal, but Neumann responded with its most productive part of the game over the final six minutes of the period.

The Knights cashed in on their fourth corner in a five-minute span to score the game's lone goal with less than a minute remaining in the period.

The Cougars turned up the pressure in the fourth quarter with Celeste Hoffman and Madison Lasinski getting shots in the closing minutes, but MU was unable to capitalize.

Hoffman had three shots on goal to lead the Cougars.
