The Misericordia University field hockey team dropped a tough 1-0 decision in its season opener, Friday at Ithaca.
 
The Bombers scored the only goal of the game on a tip-in midway through the first quarter.
 
The Cougars carried the play in the second half and applied extensive pressure with eight shots in the fourth quarter.
 
MU put six shots on goal over the final six minutes but was unable to net the tying goal.
 
Madison Blauch led the Cougars with four shots on goal.
 
Jordan Nonnemacher made five saves in her collegiate debut.
